Using ODIN to Search Teacher Center/VCSU Libraries...

 
If you are a new user of the ODIN System...
    We recommend that you print this page or copy down the instructions for reference before connecting to the ODIN System. This system is very user friendly and it only takes a moment to log on.
     Anyone may search the ODIN System but that person must have an active authorized patron number in order to check out materials from a specific library. The Teacher Center has authorized patron numbers appropriate for check out of Teacher Center/VCSU resources for educators in member schools.

 

To begin your search...
 1. Click on the button labeled ODIN at the bottom of this page or type http://www.odin.nodak.edu in the address bar of your web browser, if you are viewing a text only version of this website.
2. Once the ODIN homepage appears on your screen, you may click on one of two choices:
     Choice 1: Search ODIN: This is the Web-based version of ODIN (recommended)
     Choice 2: Telnet to ODIN: Your computer must have telnet software to use the telnet option.
3. If you choose and click on "Search ODIN",
         select/click on Valley City State University in the library column (VCSU and Teacher Center resources are cataloged as one library. If a resource is Teacher Center property, "Teacher Center" will be listed as the "location".)
4. Simply select your desired search option under "by":
         author, title, or subject.
5. Type your search information into the space labeled "for what":
         Ex: ants.
6. Click "GO".
7. Steps 4-6 may be repeated as often as you wish.
8. If you get stuck, you can always hit the "BACK" button on your browser and see the previous screen.
9. When your search results appear, click on any selections listed to view details or click on "limit your selection".
10. If you locate an item you wish to check out, you may click on "email" to relay the title, author, and call number to the Teacher Center to complete the search, check out, and distribution processes.
11. You are ready to "search". Click on ODIN to begin.
